Avion Solutions Inc., a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking candidates for an Electrical Controls Engineer Intern to support the Propulsion Drives Branch of the Maneuver Air Directorate. This position will provide foundational engineering support across engine control law implementation, electromagnetic interference (EMI) evaluations, and hardware-in-the-loop/EMI test bench operations, and is located in Huntsville, AL.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

• Provide entry-level analytical and technical support for engineering projects, systems, and sub-systems.

• Assist in reviewing test plans, test reports, and technical data for compliance with project and specification requirements.

• Participate in engineering test witnessing, data collection, post-test evaluations, and hardware inspections.

• Review design documentation, engineering change proposals, and technical drawings for accuracy and technical completeness.

• Assist with root cause analysis, failure investigations, and defect reporting for components and mechanical/electrical assemblies.

• Support technical document reviews, including technical manuals, maintenance procedures, and standard operating procedures.

• Participate in project reviews, technical syncs, and team engineering meetings.

• Assist in documenting engineering processes, methodologies, and technical analyses in standard electronic formats (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Perform information searches, technical data correlation, and preliminary trade studies to support ongoing engineering projects.

• Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

• Must be a Junior or higher, currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, or Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.

• Basic understanding of control system theory, engine control laws, electrical circuit analysis, and digital/analog signals.

• Familiarity with electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) fundamentals, shielding concepts, and grounding principles.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, pinout configurations, and bills of materials (BOMs).

• Hands-on familiarity with electrical laboratory test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, spectrum analyzers).

• Ability to gather test data, perform basic technical calculations, and summarize test results in clear, concise reports.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with foundational technical writing capability.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

• Must be a U.S. citizen and have the ability to obtain/maintain a DoW security clearance.

• Must be able to travel up to 15% of the time.
